Artist Statement
First and foremost I paint because it is fun. I am happy just thinking about colours and light and brushing my canvas.
My paintings are about the culture that creates Canada and the atmosphere that seeps from our landscape. The hues, weight, density, patterns, rhythms, and motion inspire my work. I look for structures in what I see and imagine the scientific as well as spiritual forces that are happening before my eyes. I try to capture some of it for others to see. My paintings are intended to identify specific elements in the natural world; some change quickly like a cloud's shadow,  others over centuries. I use colour and light to melt impressionism with realism so that the viewers may draw from their personal experiences with nature to complete the paintings.

Maggie had a unique childhood. She gained many opportunities to use art as a personal form of expression. She was the recipient of several art awards throughout school. While attending High School in Toronto Maggie studied with acclaimed war illustrator Fred Savard. At the Ontario College of Art and Design it was her good fortune to come under the instruction of a wide range of influential artists: Carl Schafer, Eric Freifeld as well as Dennis Burton.
